quotes1I haven’t been reading as many online articles lately so it’s been a while since the last one-liners. I hope these don’t disappoint! Some are meaningful, some are funny, some are . . . well, interesting.

“You can’t sleep comfortably if someone you know is sleeping outside.” - Jenna Russell on book clubs and friendships with the homeless

“I feel like he was not treated fairly. I hope history will be more kind to him than some of the contemporary media.” – Al Sharpton on Michael Jackson. Really, Al?

“The couple of times I saw Michael Jackson I could not surpass his genuineness and remember always feeling bad because of all the people who ridiculed him,” says one commenter, noting, “if we deeply think about it, this is exactly what people did to Jesus and Jesus helped people just as Michael did by giving to over 30 charities.” – Someone interviewed for this piece on whether MJ is in heaven. Think deeply now.

“When people have been kissing your crown for that long, it’s only a matter of time before you become drunk on your own hype.” – Jemele Hill on Lebron James confiscating the tape that recorded him getting dunked on.

“That’s a lot of vegetables.” – Beth when I told her this guy is a vegetarian.

Martin Luther King didn’t coach t-ball; neither did Ghandi. Start a revolution if you want, but that’s not a price that I’m willing to pay.  (Tony Jones on the death of “emergent”)

I despise “revolutionary” branding like the image of a Hugo boss glasses wearing, goateed face 20 something drinking free-trade coffee while wearing a Che Guevara t-shirt listening to protest music as if that is a revolution. That is capitalism and you have been bought by a brand. Sorry to inform you that what you thought were changing actually co-opted your myopia. (Drew Tatusko on the same thing)

Astrophysics is his passion. Albert Einstein and Bruce Lee are among his idols. (Moshe Kai Cavalin, 11)

If this were a family, AT&T would be the drunken uncle who always throws up at wedding receptions, and Apple would be the long suffering brother who always has to drive him home. (Charlie Sorrel on At&T’s botched unveiling of the 3G iPhone)

It adds up to a perpetual all-you-can-hate buffet, which, frankly, can be quite delicious when a zillionaire superstar misbehaves his way out of town and then gets suspended for 50 games in his new city for taking fertility drugs.  (Kevin Hench on sports and hate)

“Besides the obvious scariness of being in a confined space with church people, the whole thing seemed like a blind date that everyone expected to be a marriage.”

“The man saved the NBA, and there’s a good chance you didn’t even know who he was.”

“Obedience separates those who build from those who splat.”
